Job 10-12
“Why then hast Thou brought me out of the womb?” (10:18). Men and women want their lives to have significance. Job wondered why God had allowed him to be born if his life was going to end in such misery, having lost everything. He was innocent (10:7) and didn’t deserve such grief, so what was the point? If not punishment, then what could be the purpose of a life filled with sorrow?
God is not arbitrary, random, or capricious. Job stated (even in his painful confusion) that wisdom and understanding belong to God (12:13), so we can trust Him with our hardest questions.
