II Chronicles 24-25
"Indeed, the army of the Arameans came with a small number of men; yet the Lord delivered a very great army into their hands, because they [Judah] had forsaken the Lord" (24:24). After Jehoiada the priest died, King Joash began listening to ungodly advisors (v17). The nation slid into idolatry, and they refused to listen to the prophets' warnings (v19-20). In Jehosphaphat's time, God had fought Judah's battles. But now, they were defeated by a smaller army.
Judah's strength was never in great weapons or strategy or well-trained soldiers. They were only victorious when they walked with God.
