I Corinthians 1
“But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption” (v30). Paul said that we did not receive salvation because we figured it all out, or because we were very good, or because we came from the right background. The power of God through the cross didn’t fit the Jews’ idea of “a sign,” nor the Greek’s idea of “wisdom” (v22).
Without our help and beyond our comprehension, “by His doing” God worked through Jesus’ death and resurrection in order to redeem us and make us His children.
