April 12: I Corinthians 2

I Corinthians 2

“And my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom … that your faith should not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God” (2:5).  From the beginning, the early church wanted to idolize their human leaders.  “I am of Paul” and “I of Apollos” and “I of Cephas/Peter” (1:12).  Paul insisted that our identity should be in Christ, who was crucified for us and in whose name we are baptized (1:13).

The Body (the Church), has only one head, and that is Christ Jesus (Col 1:18).  The rest of us are all equally in need of redemption.
