Mark 1

“And just then there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit …” (v23). Jesus confronted darkness wherever He went. He never quietly visited a place and left; He always changed things. In Capernaum, a man with an unclean spirit (who may not have been noticed before) interrupted the synagogue service and shouted at Him, and Jesus delivered him. “The time is fulfilled!” (v15); life cannot continue in the same old patterns. The Kingdom of God is here.

The same old patterns have nothing to do with the Kingdom of God. Jesus came to break our chains, deliver us, and transform us.
