April 14: Job 23

Job 23

“Behold, I go forward but He is not there, and backward, but I cannot perceive Him … but He knows the way I take” (v8-10).  Job was drowning in grief and pain, and he couldn’t feel God’s presence.  He wanted to confront God, and cried, “Oh, that I knew where I might find Him!” (v3).  But though Job felt surrounded by a thick cloud which prevented him from seeing God, he was confident that God saw him.

In his misery and grief, Job still trusted that God saw everything and was in charge of the universe.  Therefore “I am not silenced by the darkness” (v17).
