April 15: Leviticus 8-9

Leviticus 8-9

“Come near to the altar and offer your sin offering and your burnt offering, that you may make atonement for yourself and for the people …” (9:7).  The consecration Israel’s priests was a very special and important ritual.  There was no spiritual hierarchy; they were sinful humans, like everyone else.  Yet, God appointed them to approach Him and lead the people in worshipping Him.  First (and regularly), their own sins had to be covered.

We no longer need human mediators.  Jesus the High Priest, without sin, offered Himself “once for all” so that we can approach God through Him (Hebrews 7).
