April 18: I Corinthians 3

I Corinthians 3

“So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth” (v7).  Paul told the Corinthian believers that their unhealthy fixation on “celebrity preachers” was a mark of immaturity.  When they idolized their Christian leaders, like Apollos or Peter or Paul himself, they were thinking like the world - “walking like mere men” (v3).  He urged them to consider everyone “servants” (v5), each one responsible to the Master for their work (v12).

No one has special status before God.  As the Body of Christ, “all things belong to you, and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God” (v22-23).
