Proverbs 23
"Do not desire his delicacies, for it is deceptive food" (v3). Proverbs, like the book of James, tells us that our desires can lead us into sin. Even normal, natural desires can grow out of control and cause us problems. "Do not weary yourself to gain wealth ... when you set your eyes on it, it is gone." (v5). All earthly desires - money, success, possessions, sex - are temporary, and in the end don't satisfy us.
Life is a great adventure as a child of God. Our desires do not control us when our true satisfaction is in Him.
