April 20: Job 27

Job 27

“Till I die I will not put away my integrity from me” (v5).  Job’s world had turned upside down: his family and wealth had been stripped away, and his friends told him it was his own fault.  Though shaken, Job stubbornly refused to relinquish his strong convictions that 1) he did not cause his own tragedy, and that 2) God was in charge of everything.  These beliefs led to a crisis, because Job couldn’t understand how a good, powerful God would allow suffering.  But still, he clung to his integrity.

When everything is shaken, what remains is the truth: that God is good and He is powerful.
