April 21: Job 28

Job 28

“But where can wisdom be found? … God understands its way, and He knows its place” (v12, 23).  Job’s story is filled with poetic, beautiful descriptions of our world.  He said that man finds all kinds of treasure in the earth: food, and fire, and “rocks are the source of sapphires”; gold, coral and crystal are mentioned.  But man can’t find wisdom except through “the fear of the Lord” (v28).  Without a relationship with God, the treasures of the earth are dust.

In the face of mysterious tragedy, Job’s friends had no wisdom to offer.  God alone, who created us and knows the future, has all the answers.
