II Chronicles 32
"And they spoke of the God of Jerusalem as of the gods of the peoples of the earth, the work of men's hands" (v19). Sennacherib's scare-tactics might have worked with certain kings who did not honor the God of Abraham. But King Hezekiah of Judah knew God and believed in His power. It did not matter that Sennacherib was king of Assyria, a huge and undefeated empire.
Hezekiah told his people, "The one with us is greater than the one with him. With him is only an arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God" (v7-8).
