April 25: II Chronicles 34-36

II Chronicles 34-36

"I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord" (34:15). Despite occasional good kings like Hezekiah, the Law (given through Moses) was unfamiliar in Judah. Young King Josiah was devoted to God, but he was shocked when the book was found and read. He realized how far from righteousness Judah had strayed. Wanting to obey fully, Josiah orchestrated a huge Passover feast, and God blessed him (though after him Judah fell to the Babylonians).

Like us, each generation of Israelites was tempted by an attractive but poisoned world. Our defensive armor is the Spirit and Word.
