Job 34-36
“One who is perfect in knowledge is with you” (36:4). Elihu believed in the Creator: “He covers His hands with lightning, and commands it to strike the mark” (36:32). Yet, Elihu’s pride (“perfect in knowledge”) blinded him to the truth about Job’s life. He held firmly to the traditional view of God and prosperity: “For He pays a man according to his work” (34:11), and therefore believed that Job’s misery proved him guilty.
Elihu feared God but lacked the humility to take his own advice and accept that he didn’t have all the answers: “Look at the heavens and see … they are higher than you” (35:5).
