Mark 6:1-32
“Come away by yourselves to a lonely place and rest awhile” (v31). In the middle of supernatural events, we find this reminder of the humanity of Jesus and His disciples. They healed, taught, and cast out demons (v12-13), but they still needed rest. Jesus modeled this willingness to stop His work to get physical or spiritual nourishment (1:35), sleeping in the boat or escaping to pray. John the Baptist’s death was a reminder that the battle was deadly.
As the Spirit-filled people of God, we have spiritual power in Jesus name. But we remain “jars of clay,” humans in need of rest and care.
