I Corinthians 5
"Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough?" (v6). So-called (v11) believers within the Corinthian church were committing sexual sin. The community had become so arrogant, so sure of their spiritual maturity and health, that no one grieved over the behavior or confronted the sinners (v2). Paul reminded them that they were all vulnerable. In an interconnected spiritual family, unrepentant sin would certainly infect others.
Just as we can encourage and inspire one another toward righteousness, as one Body (I Cor 12:12), the sin of one affects us all.
