April 29: Job 37-40

Job 37-40

“Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind …” (38:1).  Job’s accusation was that God had broken His own laws of justice.  Job thought that while he prospered, “the friendship of God was over my tent” (29:4), and when his family, health and wealth were broken, God was punishing him.  Not being an evil man, Job declared this unjust, and he begged to present his case before the Creator.  “Oh that I knew where I might find Him!” (23:3).

And God showed up, beautiful and terrifying.  The Creator “is a rewarder of those who seek Him” (Heb 11:6) – even imperfect, angry, confused men like Job.
