Psalm 87
“The Lord shall count when He registers the peoples, ‘This one was born there’” (v6). “Zion,” the holy mountain, was another name for Jerusalem. Citizenship in Zion meant belonging to a special, holy place, where God chose to dwell with His people. But this promise wasn’t just for Jews: “I shall mention Rahab and Babylon among those who know Me” (v4).
Through Jesus Christ, each of us, Jew and non-Jew, people from every tribe and language, can be reborn as members of the Kingdom. We can become “fellow citizens with the saints … a dwelling of God in the Spirit” (Eph 2:19-22).
