April 4: II Chronicles 18-19

II Chronicles 18-19

"I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, like sheep which have no shepherd" (18:16). This was Micaiah's prophecy of doom, declared in front of two powerful kings. Micaiah was known for saying exactly what God told him, rather than what pleased the king (v7). In this case, Israel's false prophets were declaring total victory (v5). Micaiah, knowing the probable consequences, said the opposite: Israel would lose, and King Ahab would not return safely from battle.

Micaiah was loyal to God even when he had nothing to gain and everything to lose. He "faithfully and wholeheartedly" (19:9) served one Master.
