April 4: Psalm 18:1-15

Psalm 18:1-15

“He bowed the heavens also, and came down … He sped upon the wings of the wind” (v9-10). The most remarkable thing about this poetic image is that the psalmist declares that God came down for him. The psalmist was in terrible distress: “the cords of death encompassed me” (v4), and he cried out to God. The universe trembled under hailstones and arrows and lightening as God rode to the rescue of His child (v13-14).

Our names are tattooed on God’s hand (Isaiah 49:16). He loves us deeply, personally, fiercely, and He moves heaven and earth to rescue us from evil.
