April 4: Romans 15: 1-13

Romans 15:1-13

“Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves” (v1).   Paul says that building up other people is more important than our own comfort.   Jesus “did not please Himself” (v3), but gave up His status and rights in order to rescue sinful humans.  Therefore, Paul says, “accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God” (v7).

We may disagree with fellow believers (ch 14), or we may feel we have “earned” our comfort, security or status.  But if Christ is our example, we will cheerfully give up our rights for the sake of love.
