Psalm 18: 16-50
“And by my God I can leap over a wall” (v29). The first part of this psalm describes God coming down; the rest describes the results of God’s rescue. The psalmist was drowning, but “He drew me out of many waters … He rescued me, because He delighted in me” (v16-19). Now, living in God’s presence, the psalmist is transformed. His darkness has been pierced by light (v28), and he is hidden behind God’s shield (v30).
Jesus gave us His Spirit for daily life. We are strengthened by God’s gentleness (v35), our steps are secure (v36), and our hands are trained for battle (v34).
