Galatians 4

“But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elemental things ….?” (v9).  Paul said that before Christ came, people were like servants or small children in relation to God.  They knew Him in a distant way, mediated by their obedience to symbolic rituals of the Law.  But through Christ we become adult sons and daughters of the Father, beloved heirs with full access to Him.

God calls us in Christ to know and be known by Him, claiming our real inheritance, nothing less.
