August 10: Luke 19:11-48

Luke 19:11-48

“A certain nobleman went to a distant country” (v12).  People thought Jesus was going to Jerusalem to set up an earthly kingdom (v11), and perhaps they would share in His glory and power. Instead, Jesus told this parable to illustrate the nature of God’s Kingdom.  His followers were like the King’s servants, living in hostile territory (v14) until He returned.  Their work reflected their relationship with the King: whether they feared Him, trusted Him, or worked eagerly for His purposes (v16-23).

God is always looking for those who trust Him, like Joshua and Caleb.  Then He can accomplish His work in us and through us.
