August 11: Galatians 4

Galatians 4

“But now that you have come to know God, or rather be known by God, how is it that you … desire to be enslaved all over again?” (v9). Through faith in Christ, we are not rule-bound slaves, but beloved children of God (v7). However, some Gentile believers were being tempted to observe Jewish law (v10), even circumcision. They wanted the feeling of security that comes through rules, instead of the radical freedom of a relationship with God.

We are not called to the Law, but to God Himself, who has put “the Spirit of His Son into our hearts” (v6).
