Galatians 5:12

“You have been severed from Christ, you who have been seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace” (v4). We cannot mix faith in the Law with faith in Christ’s sacrifice and righteousness; they are incompatible. Paul declared that if a Gentile believer received circumcision (the most important sign of the Old Covenant), then “he is under obligation to keep the whole Law” (v3). And since no one can keep the Law perfectly, this is a spiritual dead-end.

The Law cannot save us. We can’t be perfect; therefore our only real hope is trusting the purifying power of Jesus.
