August 13: Jeremiah 14

Jeremiah 14

“The prophets are prophesying falsehood in My name” (v14).  The Bible warns about leaders who speak lies in God’s name.  In Jeremiah’s time, the nation was about to reap the consequences of years of sin.  The land and people were suffering, and Israel’s enemies were gaining strength.  But instead of repenting, certain leaders were spreading false comfort, due to “the deception of their own minds” (v14).

The cure for this confusion is for all of God’s people to know Him and His Word: “I will put My law within them … for they will all know Me, from the least to the greatest” (Jer 31:34).
