Ephesians 2
“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household” (v19). As humans, we are made for community and terrified of alienation. To make ourselves feel better, we cling to “our” group and demonize “others.” Deep inside, we know we are separated from our Father because of sin (v12). Christ came and preached peace to us, Jews and Gentiles and everyone, reconciling us to God through the cross (v16) and making us a family.
“For He Himself is our peace” (v14). In Christ, we become God’s beloved children and become reconciled to one another.
