Luke 21:10-38

“Yet not a hair on your head will perish.  By your endurance you will gain your lives” (v18-19).  Before seeing the resurrected Christ, the disciples might have wondered how they could be killed (v16), and yet not perish.  The Message translates this as “you will not be lost”, meaning, the enemies of Christ can kill your body, but God keeps your soul - the real you.  Despite the hostility of anti-Christ powers, we are totally safe in the arms of God.

Many believers already face this hostility.  Together, we are called to follow Christ without being distracted by sin (v34-36), trusting God’s promise of eternal life.
