Jeremiah 18-21

“For my people have forgotten Me … they have stumbled from their ways, from the ancient paths” (18:15-16).  God warned His people that there were terrible consequences for rejecting His ways.  Worshipping idols was not simply choosing a different Temple; it was embracing a whole system of destructive, corrupt behaviors.  The Israelites burned their sons in fire as offerings to idols, a thing that God said “never entered My mind” (19:5). 

Worshipping anyone or anything other than God will eventually lead to real harm.  In love, God calls us to find security and joy in a relationship with Him.
