August 20: Psalm 113

Psalm 113

“Who is like the Lord our God, who is enthroned on high, who humbles Himself to behold the things that are in heaven and in the earth?” (v6).  The psalmist marveled at the ultimate paradox: our Creator God, ruler of everything, humbles Himself to get involved with us.  He sees the poor, the needy, the disappointed, and the disillusioned (v7-9), and He comes alongside us.  Though He is perfect and we are sinful, He came to live and die among us in the form of a servant (Phil 2).

We have every reason to praise Him “from the rising of the sun to its setting” (v3).
