Isaiah 3-4
“And there will be a shelter to give shade from the heat by day, and refuge and protection from the storm and the rain” (4:6). This is life, secure in God’s presence. But as Judah fell apart due to widespread sin, danger was everywhere. Isaiah prophesied that God would remove “both supply and support … the mighty man and the warrior, the judge and the prophet” (v2). The people would oppress each other (3:5) and suffer terribly (v24-26).
God’s covenant with Israel was all about security. When they walked outside the protection of His arms, there was no other shelter.
