Proverbs 11
“The righteousness of the upright will deliver them, but the treacherous will be caught by their own greed” (v6). Many of the proverbs teach us that evil brings about its own reward – actions have consequences. Selfish, immoral choices might not seem destructive in the short term; in fact, they may lead to pleasure and wealth in the short term. But eventually, “he who searches after evil, it will come to him” (v27). In the same way, “the fruit of righteousness is a tree of life” (v30).
A lifetime of “sowing seeds” like keeping our promises, sexual purity, hard work, and kindness will produce good fruit.
