Jeremiah 22-23
“He pled the cause of the afflicted and needy; then it was well. Is not that what it means to know Me?” (22:16). Through Jeremiah, God spoke to the nation’s leaders: landowners, princes, prophets, and priests. Israel’s ancestors had followed God’s law and cared for the poor, but no more. Now, the wealthy were building beautiful homes and not paying their workers properly (22:13-14). The religious leaders were “polluted” (23:11) and couldn’t hear God’s truth anymore.
The people had forgotten what “knowing God” really meant. God called them to repent and change, before disaster overwhelmed them (22:7).
