Isaiah 7-10
“The people who walk in darkness will see a great light …” (9:2). The people of Israel and Judah walked in darkness in Isaiah’s time. When enemies threatened Judah, some suggested that they “consult the mediums and spiritists” (8:19) instead of turning to God. But “it is the Lord of hosts whom you should regard as holy, and He shall be your fear … then He shall become a sanctuary” (8:14).
God becomes our sanctuary, our safety, our Light in the darkness, when we cling to Him instead of leaning on false sources of comfort.
