August 3: Galatians 2

Galatians 2

“For if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly.” Through miraculous visions and 14 years of devotion (v1), Paul came to understand that Christ had ushered in a new era of freedom. He and all Jews could only be justified (declared holy) through trusting Jesus’ perfect sacrifice – the same way Gentiles were saved. There should be no Jewish-Gentile divide (v11-14), and no mixing of old and new (v18-21).

Our human tendency is to justify ourselves and condemn or reject others. But faith in Christ means releasing our old ways, living by faith, and welcoming all believers into the family.
