John 1:1-34

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born … of God” (v13).  When we choose to follow Jesus (believe in His name), we are “born again” into God’s family.  Our sin made us orphans, disconnected from the Father who created us.  But Jesus, the Word made flesh, came into our world to make a way for us to be adopted as God’s beloved children.

When we “receive” Jesus the Son, we are swept up into His loving communion with the Father.
