Psalm 116-117
“I was brought low, and He saved me” (v6). This simple declaration sums up God’s kindness towards us. In the psalmist’s tears and stumbling (v8), fear of death, and disappointment with people (v11), he found that God was faithful. Before we can do any great things for God, we have to experience His mercy in our “distress and sorrow” (v3). Then we know Him and love Him, and we have something to share “in the presence of all His people” (v14).
“Return to your rest, O my soul, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you” (v7).
