Psalm 42
“Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God” (v11). This psalm describes a person of faith in deep distress, but waiting eagerly for God to reveal Himself. The dryness of the psalmist’s soul had no other solution but God, the Giver of living water (v2). He recognized his own grief (“Why are you in despair, O my soul?”) but believed that help was on the way.
“His song will be with me in the night” (v8). God’s people have proved His faithfulness; we know our hope and trust are not in vain.
