Psalm 142-143
“Let Thy good Spirit lead me on level ground” (143:10-11). Like many people, the psalmist often felt that the ground he stood on was shaky. “There is no one who regards me; there is no escape for me; no one cares for my soul” (142:4). He went through times of depression, feeling like “those who have long been dead,” loneliness, and fear (143:3-4). Remembering God’s faithfulness in the past (143:5), the psalmist cried to God: “bring my soul out of prison” (142:7).
Even though the psalmist could only see shadows, he trusted that God saw his life clearly and would revive him (142:3).
