Psalm 144-145
“Blessed be the Lord, my rock, … my lovingkindness and my fortress” (144:1-2). While many psalms were written out of the psalmist’s individual personal experience, they were all intended to be used for congregational worship and prayer. One person’s experience of deliverance or healing became “a new song,” (144:9), sung by many. In this way, God’s faithfulness and love were communicated: “One generation shall praise Thy works to another” (145:4).
We were not made to serve God alone. Together, with our collective memories and experiences, we can remind each other: “The Lord is near to all who call upon Him” (145:18).
