I Chronicles 4-5
“They cried out to God in the battle, and He was entreated for them, because they trusted in Him” (5:20). As they fought for territory, the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Manasseh cried out to God. He helped them conquer the land, “and they settled in their place until the exile” (v22). That exile, unfortunately, was because their descendents “acted treacherously against the God of their fathers” (v25). The northern kingdom of Israel never recovered.
Despite the failures of many generations, God’s plan to rescue the world through Israel prevailed. “If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself” (II Timothy 2:13).
