December 19 I Kings 3

I Kings 3

"...yet I am but a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in ..." (v7). New King Solomon, raised in wealth and privilege, truly wanted to govern well. He saw the task before him - "a great people who cannot be numbered" - and he recognized that he was not sufficient. So, he asked God for "an understanding heart," knowing that wisdom was more important than gold and harder to find.

God didn't see a king in robes and jewels. He saw an ordinary person whose heart longed for righteousness.
