December 2: II Kings 10-12

II Kings 10-12

“So they hid him from Athaliah, and he was not put to death” (11:2).  Athaliah was the Queen Mother, and when her son King Ahaziah of Judah was killed, she wanted power.  She killed her own family members, and she would have killed Ahaziah’s baby son Joash, were it not for the courage of a devout priest and Joash’s young aunt.  Queen Athaliah (like Jezebel and Ahab) caused horrible suffering, but two determined individuals saved Judah’s young king.

Evil is real and must be opposed.  Our efforts may be small, but when we act in faith, God works through us to bring about His will.
