Acts 13
“And through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses” (v39). Paul emphasized that Jesus was the Messiah “according to promise” (v23). He sketched out Israel’s entire history, showing how Jesus was the answer to all that devout Jews had been waiting for. However, Jesus also represented something different than the Law, “a work in your days” that demanded a response (v41).
The way of the cross isn’t how we expect our hopes to be fulfilled. But we are called to embrace the Messiah’s death in order to find the life and freedom we desire.
