December 24: I Kings 7-8

I Kings 7-8

"When they pray toward this place, hear Thou in heaven Thy dwelling; hear and forgive" (8:30). Solomon's Temple was one of the wonders of the world. The gigantic bronze "sea" alone, shaped like a lily and set on twelve bronze oxen, was itself an artistic wonder. From the best natural materials to the best artisan builders, the Temple was magnificent. However, Solomon knew "heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain Thee" (v27).

God's glory filled the house (8:11). In His mercy, He chose to dwell with men and women, ready and willing to "hear and forgive."
