December 28: Psalm 69

Psalm 69

"May the flood of water not overflow me, and may the deep not swallow me up" (v15). This is the cry of someone at their wits' end, helpless in the face of some personal disaster. He does not want to drown. "Save me, O God, for the waters have threatened my life!" (v1). Yet in the same psalm, hope is given: "You who seek God, let your heart revive" (v32).

Jesus was rejected, "acquainted with grief." The same God who raised Him will also rescue us from deep water, setting us on firm ground.
