December 30: I Chronicles 13-15

I Chronicles 13-15

“Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting and with the sound of the horn …” (v28).  Bringing the ark of the covenant into Jerusalem under King David’s leadership was one of the highlights of Israel’s history.  The people knew this wasn’t just another religious procession for an idol (common in nearly every culture), because the first attempt to move the ark had ended in tragedy when Israel ignored God’s laws (13:10; 15:13).

Man-made idols can be manipulated by leaders to enhance their own authority, but the invisible and all-powerful Creator rules over everything, including life and death.
