December 30: Malachi 3-4

Malachi 3-4

“It is vain to serve God …” (3:14). Malachi’s listeners had decided that serving God was pointless. Their lack of trust led to sin: worthless sacrifices, marrying unbelievers, and refusing to tithe. They were selfishly pursuing “the good life” of happiness and prosperity, and it was the path of death. God declared that Judgment was coming, “the great and terrible day of the Lord” (4:5).

“But for you who fear My name the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings” (4:2). Sin and death have lost their power, because the Son has risen with healing in His name.
