December 30: Revelation 17-19

Revelation 17-19

“Hallelujah!  Salvation and glory and power belong to our God; because His judgments are true and righteous” (19:2).  In John’s vision, people are rejoicing as God comes to judge the earth.  John explains that they are not celebrating world-wide destruction, but the fact that God’s judgments “are true and righteous.”  Chapter 18 describes the overthrow of Babylon, symbol of human arrogance.  All those who have idolized wealth or power, those who have devalued human lives (18:13) in order to fulfill their own desires, will have to face the King.

Jesus is called “Faithful and True” (19:11).  Those who love the truth will rejoice at His coming (John 3:20).
